Stefanie Spielman 1967-2009

Stefanie Spielman, breast cancer survivor and fighter for more than 10 years, passed away yesterday evening at her home in Upper Arlington, Ohio.

It is impossible to live in Columbus or central Ohio and not know who Stefanie is or know of someone who has been touched in some way by her story. She and her husband, Chris Spielman, did so much good for the community, the state and the nation. Through the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research and The Stefanie Spielman Patient Assistance Fund will continue to provide assistance and hope to those affected by breast cancer.

My thoughts and prayers go out the Spielman family and anyone who has ever been touched by the wonderful things that Stefanie, Chris and their family have done over the years. As someone whose family has also been affected by cancer I'm deeply saddened at Stefanie's passing but know that she will live on in the hearts of the millions that she has impacted.

Public calling hours will be this Monday, November 23 from 1:00pm - 8:00pm at the Longaberger Alumni House on the OSU campus. I will definitely visit and urge anyone else who is able to do so too.
